We have selected 5 races from this weekend's ITV Premier Raceday. We will cover both Group 3s and a couple listed races, its great to see big fields and competitive racing will all top jockeys and trainers. We will also cover the Irish Derby on Sunday the 30th of June at the Curragh and the market is currently headed by Ambiente Friendly.
All runners and riders below.
Newcastle 14:04 - Jenningsbet Nun Street Newcastle Open Now Chipchase Stakes (Group 3)
Distance: 6f
Runners: 11
Going: Standard To Slow
Winnings: £51,039
Our Picks for the race:
To win: Montassib 6/1
Improved massively for drop back to 6f. Finished a good 2nd in the Ayr Gold Cup before winning a big York race last October, made a winning reappearance at Doncaster, down the field in the Duke Of York Clipper Stakes, C&D Winner who arrives late on the scene and his trainer has won this the last 2 times.
Each-way: Popmaster 12/1
Raced well last autumn when producing a career best at Newbury in a 7f Listed race, then beaten a nose at Ascot in hot 7f handicap, ran consistently this year and couple push for a place.
Newcastle 15:40 - Pertemps Network Handicap
Distance: 7f
Runners: 12
Going: Standard To Slow
Winnings: £27,000
Our picks for the race:
To win: Local Hero 5/1 FAV
Only raced 4 times but has a likeable profile, winning a 3 year old handicap at Kempton recently. Taking all weather form to 121, upped in grade but also receives weight all round.
Each-way: Baradar 9/1
Only raced on turf, not been in good form this season which makes him nicely treated now, having slipped to his last winning mark, won a major Ascot 7f handicap last July. Need a bit of a revival and needs to take to AW.
Newmarket 14:15 - Maureen Brittain Memorial Empress Fillies' Stakes (Listed race)
Distance: 6f
Runners: 13
Going: Good To Firm
Winnings: £22,684
Our picks for the race:
To win: Arabian Dusk 9/2
525,00gns breeze-up purchase. Looked very green and needed the experience on debut when finishing 2nd but running on late when it clicked for this filly, the winner came out and ran a good 7th in the Albany.
Each-way: Pouting 14/1
Both runs at Windsor over 6f on good to firm, lost narrowly first time out then beat by Celandine who runs here, would need to improve to reverse the placings.
Newmarket 14:50 - JCB Fred Archer Stakes (Listed Race)
Distance: 1m 4f
Runners: 6
Going: Good to firm
Winnings: £31,191
Our pick for the race:
To win: King Of Conquest 6/4FAV
Just beat by Middle Earth in 1m 4f Newbury Group 3 last month before being way to good for Aimeric and beating them by 2.75 lengths at Goodwood. 3lb penalty but the one to beat.
Newmarket 15:25 - Plantation Stud Criterion Stakes (Group 3)
Distance: 7f
Runners: 6
Going: Good To Firm
Winnings: £48,204
Our pick for the race:
To win: Tiber Flow 11/2
Nasty fall at York but pleasingly won next time out at Haydock in a Group 3 three weeks ago, with reopposing Pogo (third) and witch hunter behind him. Record of 3-4 over this trip and will go close if race is run true and fast.
Good luck to all connections and lets hope all jockeys and horses come home safe.
