  • Most recently pulled up in the Brown Advisory at the Cheltenham Festival with many issues brought up after the jockey said the gelding was never travelling the vet also said he lost his left-fore shoe and Paul Nicholls said he scoped dirty post-race. So, he had his excuses that day but has also never been past 3m so trip is an unknown.

  • Hasn't been out of the places in last 6 starts including 2 wins. Most recently a superb effort in the Midlands Grand National only finishing 2lengths off the victory when the mare lost her left-for shoe in running so it's a very creditable effort. Very consistent mare who could go close.

Our picks for this year's Coral Scottish Grand National.

To win: Anglers Crag 10/1

4 wins from 4 for new yard after wind surgery, first three of them where over 3m to 3m2f but when moved up to 4m1f he was superb in the Eider at Newcastle he even made an error 2 out and still won so he has to enter calculations. Up another 8lbs.

Each-way: Stay Away Fay 16/1

Likes soft ground. Was a leading novice hurdler last season and became a top novice chaser this season. Poor last show at Cheltenham but the gelding had his excuses (scoping dirty after and lost a shoe in running) it's always seemed like he wants a stamina test so a nice price for a very talented horse.

Each-way: My Silver Lining 18/1

Rock solid staying chaser this season, this mare is super consistent placing on all 6 starts this season including 2 wins. Loves the mud and stays super well so she will be hoping the ground is testing. She might be ridden at the front and hoping her staying prowess will be brought right into it.

Each-way: Mr Vango 16/1

Went up the 3m 7f at Exeter for the Devon National in February where he won by 60 lengths when making all on bottomless ground, another mud lover who stays superbly well. Very lightly raced 8 year old and upped 15lbs fromtodays race. Could see a bold show.

Good luck to everyone having a bet on the race very competitive and could see a number of this field win so lets hope its one at a bigger price which we have tipped up.
